More Halloween Places in Second Life

By Gemma Cleanslate

It was nice to get an invitation from Prof. Grey of the Arcadia Library to come visit his house. I headed over only to find myself at a very scary place! It looks like he has opened a hangout for skeletons, and a few other questionable creatures. The pirate ship had a “skeleton”  skeleton crew on board.

To reach the house itself I had to walk along through an interactive graveyard and I almost did not make it ! One open grave was waiting for me! There was a group of not very friendly skeleton pirates playing cards outside the house and a very unfriendly ghoul lurking inn an open vault... Finally  I did get to the stairs to the door and entered a house hosting more skeletons .Watch every step!!!!

In the dining room I sat down at the table for a few minutes to collect myself and see what was on the menu of the day... some of the choices which was floating above the table. I walked into the kitchen which was not in much better shape and decided not to stay there too long for fear of being hit by a flying frying pan, or worse yet , ending up in it!

As I progressed through the house opening doors , each room presented more and more horrors. The nursery was most disconcerting.

On the upper floor I found a secret. This house is part of the Hunt  and the hint is on the dock, don’t miss it. There is much to see here so make a stop.

Looking for real bargains for decorating? If you visit the Haunted House at Creations Park you will be able to pick up some wonderful Halloween items each for less than 95L and every cent goes to the Parkinson’s Research.

The entire house is filled with spooky scary items you will love! One room has  with portraits and paintings that will only add to your spooky decor. There are freebies hidden among the sale items.. Have fun touching everything you see.

Outside the house there is an array of more fun decor for sale at a little higher price for some. I could not resist the little pumpkin globes and did get several at a price of only 50L each and some are great for Thanksgiving too! There is also a pumpkin hunt in the stores and this location is also in the Hunt.. get the hint. I almost forgot to get my prize!!

When you arrive follow the signs to the Halloween Emporium..

Looking for more Hunt places that are scary or have Halloween decor?? At  both these entrances there is a notecard that lists many of the other Hunt places and a description of the Halloween offerings there . One more I always visit is

"15th season Haunted Mansion Ride and Haunt Park by Nance Clowes, now includes Whymsee Sim with Cordelia"

The Best, Most Famous Haunt in all SL history. So much to do and see. This year we have
not only the amazing Ride and Dark Park, but also the famous Whymsee Hunt Sim for Halloween as well. Truly the top #1 most visited Halloween Haunt many many years running. “

Exploring Escapade's Haunt

By Deaflegacy

It was raining when I arrived. I could see the tomb, and I could see the house. I continued down to the graveyard. It was a small graveyard. I saw three graves. One of them said something about forwarding an e-mail. Wow. I looked into an open grave. There was a skeleton in there. Brr!!

I continued on but there was not much except to go to the house. It was a small house. It only have one floor. I went in that house. The first thing I saw would be the haunted bookcase. Whoa! Hold on a minute. Haunted bookcase? I clicked on it and got some notecards explaining about the property. That would be interesting.

The second thing is.. wait! Stop! There's rats on the floor?? Yes, there were rats on the floor. I tried to stay away from rats as I made my way to the other part of the room. There were two red chairs on the other side of the room. There was a “room” too, but it was much smaller.

This was an interesting place. I mean how many places have haunted bookcases? I have a strong feeling that not many do.

I continued to explore this interesting room. On one side, there is books. Unlike the haunted bookcase, these are anything but haunted. They are just that, books. Once again, I avoid the rats as I explore the small place.

I came to the TV. It looks like a normal TV... until a girl's face came through the TV. Ack! What is this? Is this a ghost who are peeking through TV? I have no ideas as I stared at TV in shock. She kept peeking through TV as if she was waiting for someone.

I stopped at the door, peeking out at the rain that is coming down rather heavily. The house had been very interesting. Small but yet, loaded with stories that it is itching to tell.

For anyone who would love to explore a haunted house, this is the place. I would really recommend it.

ZZ’s Madhouse

by Grease Coakes

It’s around that time October 31st which is Halloween the time of year to dress up and see thrills and chills through and Second Life. ZZ studios as always builds their "Madhouse" every year to share fear. ZZ studios is usally a studio for making adult material. But for the month of October it’s all about the Halloween.

When I walked into the madhouse there was a tame path and a gory path. Being brave and like most characters in horror movies I made the wrong choice and picked gory path. Floor by floor I saw gory surprises and scary sound effects. You’re walking around in a diner with skeletal remains and GASP a zombie appears with a butcher knife. Also backtracking isn’t allowed as I tried to go down the stairs and I was blocked by an invisible wall. ZZ has some clever scripting to make their madhouse a truly mad place.

For each floor it takes a minute or so to navigate through as jumping over things won’t work (trust me I tried). So it’s not a clear path. I wandered around the ZZ sim and found a statue and playground equipment that seems possessed by evil spirits within SL’s pixel grid. Along with that was a SL avatar who seemed forever as a statue I the avatar’s profile and any commutations at all will fail as of course it’s a statue.

After that I checked out the tame path in the madhouse. It seemed much less scary then the gory path. There was a broken window path and the next floor was animated furniture triggering when you walked past. As the saying goes "you fell for the trap." In the tame path I fell into a trap door was sent back to the lower floor.

I was able to grab Darkefur Fraker who’s one of the top vixens of ZZ studios to hear what she had to say, telling her, "You did a great job at your madhouse. How long has ZZ studios been doing the haunt?"

Darkefur answered, "Since... 2011 I believe. Maybe 2010. I've lost track of how many I've built.  *heh* Not a physical award.  I believe we made the top 10 haunted attractions a few years and maybe got an award one time early on."

"Still being in the top ten is a great reason to celebrate scares to share," I stated.

Darkefur agreed, "Yup. As well as being mentioned in many newsletters/blogs/etc.  That's why I say I don't know if we won an award or not since there's so MANY of those types of newsletters out there."

I told her, "Being mentioned in newsletters and or blogs is still an achievement knowing how large SL is. It's hard to be noticed on such a massive virtual environment."

She nodded, "Yeah. And I know it's been mentioned in several over the years."

I then decided to amuse her with something I'd heard, "Is it also true that you enjoy being with stallions?"

Darkefur laughed, "Like you need to ask."

I egged her on, "Haha! So readers of the SL Newser know."

Darkefur giggled, "I'm a kinky fox, as you should know."

Darkefur also suggested that people can challenge the tame path as well for a chance for a new car. However she was undecided what car to get just yet. So as you read this article that should entice you to give the madhouse both tame and gory paths a test drive at the chance at a new car that you can drive around Second Life and be the life of the Halloween party or any party. Darkefur also added “Giveaway car will be mesh, of course.  And mod/copy ok.  SO people can mod it if they want.”

So you might want to show up in a stallion avatar and perhaps charm Darke into clues for the tame and gory paths. A brand new car is a very tempting and grand prize. A good excuse to brave zombies and other scary things in ZZ Studio’s Madhouse.

Vivi's Haunted Hill

By Deaflegacy

Never before has a haunted sim terrified me as much as Vivi's Haunted Hill. For some of you, yeah, I take the horror things a bit too seriously. Perhaps that's my fault. But the thing is is that I have a lot of fun going to Vivis Haunted Hill.

When I arrived at the playground, I found out that signs are not the only thing that greeted me. Ghosts roam the yard. There was even a friendly ghost. Birds even fly in the yard. There was a playground, a graveyard, a yard, and then there's a house.

I went into the house. The house actually have three floors. The first two floors are the normal floors. The third is the attic. You would see a door that would lead to the stairways going to the attic. When you go up the stairs, you would see something in the attic. If you want to know what that is, you'd have to go. That's a scary place, but also fun. Speaking of rooms, there is a room on the first floor that houses the dead. It appears to be a living room as well. Ghosts are in that room.

The rooms on second floor has a floating bed. Another room on the same floor has someone who disappears into bed. I don't know what that is all about. In one of the rooms on the second floor, I click on something and was given a few options. One of them would be “Escape” along some other options like “Victim.” But knowing myself pretty well, I continued to explore the house. I came upon the room where someone disappeared into the bed. That figure appeared out of the bed, shook its head, before disappearing into the bed again. It didn't take long for me to leave the room. It makes me feel like I did something bad.

I went up to the third floor. You can get to the room by taking the stairs. When I got there, the only thing in that room would be candles and shelves full of skulls. With that in mind, I went down to the first floor.

This had been a very interesting tour. I did do something in that house. It's not often I get to choose between “escape” or “victim” as well as other options in that room. If anything, I would recommend Vivi's Haunted Hill to my friends.

Echo Valley

“Surrender To Echo Valley's Halloween Reverb”

by MajikVixen

If you're looking for a great place to explore this Halloween, I say you tread lightly at Echo Valley!  This beguiling, bloodlines friendly (don't worry, no biting or harassing allowed), adult sim is dedicated to those creepy thrills, offering a perfect kick-off to this Fall season.  Follow the foggy dragon's breath over the bridges of skulls and pumpkins looking for Treasure Quest coins, Haunted Hunt clues, or Skeleton Hunt items.  Find a few surprises along the way, like tales of dead men who still message you from beyond the grave, secret teleports, random prizes, and who knows what other terror awaits you... my avatar got shredded to bloody bits several times and even disappeared, mwahahaa!  In development is a maze (by the first weekend of October), and specially designed Treasure Quest mega coins.

It was Jack the proud ripper ℓ'є ℓµиє  (movsponge12) who approached me to do the article on this sim, to begin with.  He said, "My wife Mysty Le' Lune (mystyangel), who is an awesome wonderful spitball of fire, had acquired this sim on Tuesday, May 31st.  We shared it together with my Second Life Mom, Sweet Surrender (dontbefooled), who is a sweet and loving woman, who will always go out of her way to have a good time, and give the love and care people deserve.  TychusRainer is my Second Life Dad, he is pretty cool as well.  He has a passion for gaming, music, my Mom, hehe, and working.  My wife Mysty, as I have said, is a truly amazing wonderful person who wouldn't hesitate to give her shirt off her back if meant to help someone in need.  She works very hard to earn her keep, bring joy into peoples' lives and make sure everyone is enjoying themselves.  This is one of the reasons why Mysty, Sweet and I had created our sim Echo Valley Halloween! into the spectacle that it is.  We wanted people to have a place where they can come and go as they please, enjoy themselves however they wish, and always have something fun and exciting to do.

"However, some of this work would not have been possible if it were also not for a few good friends of ours, Frenchie Fry and NaTaS (natas.janus).  With their natural talents, and eye for placement, we would not have some the of the features in our sim that we have right now.  Frenchie helped us find on marketplace, a skull tree that illuminates lights from the skulls eyes with energy floating around the tree.  Natas had helped us with making a boat ride tour that you can take and enjoy looking at the whole sim.  He also helped out with terraforming bits and pieces of the land along with Mysty and putting out some of the fog effects and such in order to help the landscape have the right atmosphere.  After the Halloween season has finished, we plan in the future to do other holiday seasons such as Christmas, Valentines' Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and a whole bunch of others.  We are so excited so we hope to bring everyone enjoyment whenever they come to visit and everywhere we go.

"Also Mysty is not only a creative landscaper, but she's also has her own shop on marketplace called Two Blue Moons.  In there she has some of her collectible items, as well clothes, knickknacks, and other cool stuff, if anyone would like to take a look from the classic avi to the mesh anime.

"However, we cannot forget the thanks and support from the visitors who have come and appreciated the sim, as it has been, and that includes our friends over at Silent Lucidity, including Kymdra (kymdriel) and Johnny T (surveysays), who have been good to us, and have always been there for us ever since they been part of our lives.

"Another thanks goes out to Frenchie Fry, Jenni Witherspoon, and ƇɑssĨê Ŀɑηgтяy (cassieopeya), for helping us get involved with Treasure Quest and becoming good friends that we always have a great experience with.

"So for everyone that I have not mentioned yet, Mysty and I are very grateful for your support, and hope you all have the best Second Life experience! ^^"

All in all, it seems the SL family who have brought us Echo Valley, enjoy people very much.  I was even invited to watch them put together the first pieces of the maze.  So here's to the amazing people and experiences that await you.  Here's to the maniacal laughter that fills your head when thinking of Halloween and the adventures expecting you, at Echo Valley.  And here's to following your heart to bliss.  *lifts a mug of pumpkin spiced rum and cheers*

ZZ Studio’s Haunted Madhouse

By Grease Coakes

Halloween is the time for ghosts and goblins and trick and treaters. Most everyone finds a costume to celebrate the spooky time of year. But for ZZ Studios, the furry adult themed movie studio, they plan well ahead of time to create an excellent haunted house to scare the skin off your bones. Cindy "Zig Zag" Babii, the main skunk of ZZ invited me down to check out her haunted house at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ZZ%20Studios/113/119/26. Her Haunted house is featured in the SL group Top Haunts. For the past few years Cindy Babii and her amazing staff have put together a great haunted house.

Last year it was a fun zombie hunt as the zombies could actually kill your avatar. There was an also a great madhouse to get lost in with very good sound and visuals. A lot of the hard work and credit goes to Darkefur Fraker a long time fox of SL and a super builder and scripter. Cindy also gives credit to herself, Rhin, Jeremy, Hojo and Kehf. Their hard work also made the haunted house spooky.

This year you got to download a HUD to change your windlight settings along with a flashlight. Some areas turn off your flashlight depending on where you are. The inside of the madhouse looks a lot like a horror movie environment.

Keep your eyes open as there are special effects that you might see in a movie or just random goings on like a TV suddenly turning on or a piece of furniture on you. Cindy had this to say as I was exploring the sick madhouse, "I’ll give you a min to change your pants. (giggle)"

Some of the effects certainly were scary. Last’s year madhouse was more like a maze to figure out how to get to the top with a glass maze to confuse you. This time around Cindy and Darkefur put more energy to make it scary.

I told Cindy that she should get an award from top haunts for the quality of her madhouse. She had this to say, "We're usually top haunted house for SL though traffic wise." I told, "By the look of it I think you should get an award Darkefur and the ZZ staff did a great job." Cindy, "Thanks hun."

Like last Halloween ZZ studios model trading cards will be given out through random givers. I was one of the trading cards the previous year with Justin Foxchase. Sadly however I missed out for 2013 and I missed my chance to be on one of the cards. There’s also an impressive sharknado and some tentacle beast at the beach in ZZ studios. It doesn’t look safe to swim in these waters.

Cindy also welcomes humans to ZZ Studios to check out her haunted house and her very own sharknado.

Seeing the pictures is one thing. If you need a good scare stop by ZZ Studios’s Haunted house and get a good scare. A change of pants or underwear not included if something scares you. Cindy says it will be up for a few days past Halloween so there’s plenty of time to stop on by and get chills and thrills.
