Reader Submitted: Halloween on Caledon Downs

By Cynthia Farshore

On Tuesday October 10th the Duchy of Caledon Downs opened the month long Halloween festivities with a dance at the Goblin Cave Community Center. The dance which started at 6pm SLT lasted till 8pm marked the beginning of events.

The main event is the Ghost Hunt. Two version of a ghost figures appear for very short periods in various locations across the region. The idea is to use a prim firing weapon to hit the image before it vanishes. The great thing is you don't need to sign up or anything and can use your own gun. Your score is automatically sensed and recorded at the score pole inside the Goblin Cave.

A smaller hunt is the Jack O' Lantern Hunt. There are 5 hidden across the region. Touching it will give you a prize but don't be greedy a second touch will give you something regrettable. An information panel with a list of hints is located in the Goblin Cave next to the Ghost Hunt panel. Both panels you touch for a notecard.

This year's Ghost Train Ride is double in length with more gruesome and gory sights. You head to the high ground over at the train station and touch the little coffin on the tracks.

Ride as many times as you dare. Some who have slower rezz I suggest that you do so as this will load your cache, plus you can have another chance to see what you missed when you closed your eyes the first time, MAhahaha.

Caledon is open to ALL, it is not a hardcore roleplay community, and you don't have to dress Victorian to enjoy our land. Come to the Goblin Cave Community Center and bring a friend along, enjoy the music from the 50s to the 80s classic rock.

,,, and talk your friend to death, literally.

Akino Beach's Halloween Sim and Deepwood Manor

By Gemma Cleanslate

The Halloween area by Akino's Beach is a spectacular Halloween sim to visit. TP to the Halloween site from the beach and get ready for some spooky fun. There are several terrains to check out including a farm, a church and a very active graveyard full of wondrous habitants. Many different varieties of supernatural live here.. try the region windlight for the best look. I had to cheat so you could see.  At the farm stop in the barn to see what is for lunch.

Do not miss the cavern! It is deep in the bowels of the region and probably one of the most horrible sights and sounds I have seen or heard. I ran up the stairs from there and into the woods for some peace. Wrong. The woods which look so innocent have many surprises as you walk through the paths .
High on another hill there is a tower next to a “ hospital?" that is almost as bad as the kitchen in the cavern. Nearby another entrance to the lower caverns that leads to a  dragon’s den and then on to the kitchen. Perhaps here is where the food being prepared in the cavern kitchen goes.

Great Halloween sim!!!

The haunted house on the hill was actually the most peaceful place on the sim. Go and have fun.

Deepwood Manor is in the Deepwood Forest on Mormo. As I approached the house a pane of glass fell from above and I heard screams! As I entered the first room the tables and chair fell apart too and fairy lights flew around the room. I was wondering if I would be able to make it through the whole house before disaster struck.

The next room was filled with cobwebs and the kitchen was worse with a skeleton lying on the floor. More cobwebs adorned the hallway upstairs where unearthly pictures went through frightening changes as I looked at them.

In the library books were flying through the air as the screams continued from somewhere.
Across the way I found a ghost child playing with a model train calling for mama to come help her and then in a bedroom I found a woman hanging from a rope. I wondered if that were mama. Furniture moved itself, flew around the rooms , collapsed, while I was roaming. There is a pentagram and a skeleton on the roof. Ravens croak from outside  with scary deep caws.

When I stepped outside to view a lovely lakefront I saw the someone had painted a huge red word that describes this place... EVIL.  It is worth a tour if  you like homes that are frightening and evil. After I looked around the sim I realize I had been in these woods before. It is close to Route 1 and I know I took a turn off the road when I saw a sign for the woods. There is a church up the road if you feel the need.  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Mormo/81/110/29

Vivi's Haunted Hill

By Deaflegacy

Never before has a haunted sim terrified me as much as Vivi's Haunted Hill. For some of you, yeah, I take the horror things a bit too seriously. Perhaps that's my fault. But the thing is is that I have a lot of fun going to Vivis Haunted Hill.

When I arrived at the playground, I found out that signs are not the only thing that greeted me. Ghosts roam the yard. There was even a friendly ghost. Birds even fly in the yard. There was a playground, a graveyard, a yard, and then there's a house.

I went into the house. The house actually have three floors. The first two floors are the normal floors. The third is the attic. You would see a door that would lead to the stairways going to the attic. When you go up the stairs, you would see something in the attic. If you want to know what that is, you'd have to go. That's a scary place, but also fun. Speaking of rooms, there is a room on the first floor that houses the dead. It appears to be a living room as well. Ghosts are in that room.

The rooms on second floor has a floating bed. Another room on the same floor has someone who disappears into bed. I don't know what that is all about. In one of the rooms on the second floor, I click on something and was given a few options. One of them would be “Escape” along some other options like “Victim.” But knowing myself pretty well, I continued to explore the house. I came upon the room where someone disappeared into the bed. That figure appeared out of the bed, shook its head, before disappearing into the bed again. It didn't take long for me to leave the room. It makes me feel like I did something bad.

I went up to the third floor. You can get to the room by taking the stairs. When I got there, the only thing in that room would be candles and shelves full of skulls. With that in mind, I went down to the first floor.

This had been a very interesting tour. I did do something in that house. It's not often I get to choose between “escape” or “victim” as well as other options in that room. If anything, I would recommend Vivi's Haunted Hill to my friends.
