The Quest Qlub

By Wesley Regenbogen
The Quest Qlub sim is an open air club with a beach nearby, and many things you can do around them. This is a place where people from the Netherlands and Belgium come and enjoy themselves, but other residents are also allowed to join in, of course.

The sim was created by Lovely Zwiers in September 2014.. They communicate with their visitors and members of the group through the group ( and group chat ), with notes and their Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/thequestqlub?fref=ts
On the latter, they describe “The Quest Qlub sim” as "a beautiful place to enjoy music, to dance and relax with your friends, to play Greedy and to have fun.” It surely is the place to enjoy the music and to dance and you can relax in the seats that are at the club! They try to make everyone feel like home.
The Quest Qlub is nicely decorated and the place has a unique setting as well. The decorations were done by Lovely Zwiers and Quistis Shippe. The DJs play dance music, pop rock, and of course take requests from the crowd.  They have a new contest every week. They also have themes that they decorate the place with, like : Rock&Roll, Halloween, etc. They also have live performers like Yip Jannings and Nadine Morani.

There is a nearby beach and lots of shops, and there is even a The Quest Rentals, where you can find a place to rent if you are looking for a home in Second Life.
If readers want more information they need to consult the Facebook page, mentioned above.

In my personal opinion, the place is the best place I found where people from Holland and Belgium enjoy themselves. But as mentioned earlier, everyone is welcome to join in! So, I conclude with these words : Everyone, come and join us at The Quest Qlub and have fun!

Note: Earlier the date the club was created was given as 2004. That was a typo, the correct date being 2014.

Geo Roulette: A Game of Random Explorations

By DrFran Babcock

There are a lot of times when I find myself alone in Second Life™, especially because I log in often, at 5:00 AM my time, which is 2 AM in SL. So, I have devised ways to keep myself amused while solitary. Geo Roulette is a game I made up that I based on my love for exploring the grid. SL is huge, and the only way to see things that I might not see is to depend upon luck.

The Rules of the Game

Geo Roulette is a game that relies upon that vastness of the grid. Here’s how to play:

1.      Open the map on your screen and zoom out as much as you can, so that as much of the map is on your screen as is possible.
2.      Click on the map until you get a red circle, which indicates that you have clicked on a valid parcel. (I generally try to do at least one mainland continent parcel and two estates each time I play.)
3.      Click the teleport button on the map.
4.      Once at your location:
a.       You can travel/fly anywhere within 300 meters or so of your landing point. Sometimes it’s necessary to go farther, because there’s a lot of abandoned land on some mainland continents.
b.      You can cross a sim boundary if it’s within the 100 meter limit.
c.       Oh, and no cheating. “You get what you get, and you don’t get upset.” More often than not, the landing place is a dud.
d.      Explore and have fun!

Now that you know the rules, I will share with you the different places I landed on during this round of Geo Roulette. The results are not always very exciting, and you will learn that there is a lot of abandoned land in SL. I was amazed at the luck I had this round, and almost felt as if readers wouldn’t believe me, but this is exactly how things worked for me this time.

Geo Roulette #1 Mainland Sim:  Sverdlovsk (Google Translate says that’s Romanian) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sverdlovsk/204/193/103

What is it with Romanians and the dead? Vampires are the claim to fame for these lovely people, and this area is not a disappointment. I am happy that I landed somewhere interesting for my first try.

If you look around you will find crypts, gravestones, and other macabre decorations. The gates and everything around are all for sale. Too bad that I found this a few days after Halloween. It would have made a great backdrop for scary photos.

Close to this location is a shop with a novel, but not new idea: Pay What You Want.

The owners explain that this is a “Viral Economic Environment,” and that they want to see what people will pay if they are given the choice. The viral part is their hope that you will spread the word. All of the items are created by a small group of friends who are trying a new marketing approach. The notecard I received was written by JubJub Forder. The items on sale, mostly home furnishings and foliage, seemed well-made.  I didn’t buy any, because I didn’t have a need at the moment. I am not sure how much I would have paid. Prices vary so much in Second Life™.

Geo Roulette #2: Les Terres d’Haelis: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Amalfi%20Coast/89/154/100

It took a few clicks on the map until I got a red circle, but as soon as I did, I TPed, and landed on what looked like a Viking ship! Coincidentally, I had been to this place before, when I researching Vikings in Second Life. Once again, I had been lucky in my teleporting.

As I looked around, and read the location on the top of my user interface, I realized I was in a French Gor Roleplay sim. Thankfully, the sim was empty, because I am not a proponent of Gor. However, I have always found Gor builders to be formidable, and this location was not a disappointment.

The welcome notecard is in French, and from what I could make out, it’s a real Gor Roleplay sim, stating that all of the play is based on the works of Norman, the writer who created the whole genre.

If you are fluent in French and like Gor, this is the place for you. As I said, I find Gor repugnant, but the snowy build, and quaint village look of the place was quite appealing, and would make a great backdrop for winter photos. It’s easy enough to go there at times when Francophones might not be about. The few times I landed there to take pictures, the sim was empty. If this seems like something you would like, contact the admins of the sim: evilsmoka viprer, anoyah resident, and omnyia resident, or the moderator: svenmorden resident.

Geo Roulette #3: Moscow Red Square

I could not believe my luck this round of Geo Roulette, because my third parcel turned out to be Moscow Red Square. This sim is the real thing in terms of being a locale where the majority of the avatars about were in voice, speaking Russian! I didn’t join in, because I was on a mission to complete the third phase of the game, and I, um, don’t speak Russian. However, you do not have to speak the language to feast on the visual delights of this sim.
Most likely, I will never get to see St. Basil’s storybook cathedral in Moscow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Basil%27s_Cathedral ). However, the recreated cathedral build here is a must see, Second Life™ destination. You can wander around and about outside the structure, and go inside to view the religious icons that at presented. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of this place. There is a mixture of built and textured prims that really fools the eye into believing in the complexity of the church.

St. Basil’s is not the only attraction on the sim. The huge plaza contains also a good replica of Lenin’s Tomb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenin%27s_Mausoleum ).

Conclusion

So, there it is…my new game. If you think this might be something you might want to do, please IM me to let me know how it worked out and the places you visited. The potential for amazing discoveries is one of the things that keeps me logging into SL all the time. Share your great finds with me.

Veterans Tribute in Second Life

By Bixyl Shuftan

Tuesday November 11 was Veterans Day, and like other major holidays it saw some events on the Grid. The most notable exhibition was the Second Life Veterans Tribute. Constructed every year for several years, this year it was in a quarter of the Kajam sim. The starting spot was in a field of poppies, one of the symbols of Armistice Day in England.

The main part of the exhibition was the Memorial Wall. Each brick had the name of a veteran, alive or deceased, or sometimes they had the names of groups of veterans. Visitors could offer the names of veterans they know. Names on the wall have gone all the way back to the Revolutionary and Civil War. Among the soldiers on the wall was Lothi Aeon, in real life Jacob D. Borton, whom was murdered on May 11 2009 in the attack on Camp Liberty while trying to protect a comrade.

In the center of the Memorial Wall was a tribute to the five branches of the American military, with a description of the history of each flag.

There were a number of smaller memorials, such as this one of the Fort Hood Shooting in Nov. 2009 in which thirteen soldiers were killed. Other memorials included one to Canadian veterans, and one for Pearl Harbor.

People dropped in throughout the day, such as this group of two adults and several child avatars.

In the past, the location of the Veterans Tribute was full of a number of events across the week. This time, not so much. There was a small spontaneous party set up by Wildroses Pevensey, one of the Veterans Tribute team in the afternoon.

The Veterans Tribute has been the scene of a number of stories. Particuarly moving was the interview of one Marine as he described how several comrades of his met their end in the Middle East.

The Hope Driftwood and Dreamscape Ranches

By Wesley Regenbogen

Hope Driftwood’s Ranch

Recently, I wrote about the closing down of the The Full Circle Club. The owners found another business in Second Life : ranches in Second Life and also breeding virtual horses in Second Life.

It was the first time I saw horse raising in Second Life, boy was that an experience ! Hope Driftwood and Christopher Dreamscape both own a ranch in Second Life where they own a number of breedable horses. Christopher told me he also breeds virtual dogs All those animals that have been coming to Second Life. This trend has been going on for some years, so, well, I must say that it’s a nice thing.
The two don't run a single ranch, but two. Hope Driftwood owns a ranch called “Hope Driftwood Ranch." Christopher Dreamscape owns a second ranch called “Dreamscape Ranch." Both of them created their ranches themselves, with helpers helping to decorate Hope Driftwood. The communication for Hope Driftwood Ranch is done by plain old notices and word to mouth. Her ranch can be found through Second Life Search and everyone is welcome to visit it! She on occasion plays music for the horses in the ranch as well. There are a few upcoming events: "Snap," "Drop," and "Panel Auction."

Hope Driftwood told me her ranch had a number of helpers, which she considered her Second Life family: Benji Darkfury, Red Darkness , Rosie Darkness, Ayasha johnannes, and Neaven Snowfield. There was also, "My brother rancher and other helper Christopher Dreamscape. This started out as a family based ranch! I Started doing horse a couple of years ago when i was on a diffrent avi. I was Playing Rosie Darkness at the time. Dakota Snowfield and Benji Darkfury taught me a lot! I love horses both in real life and Second Life. This is my dream! I get horse's and breed them with my daughter Sunny and Sister Cherry! But I Love to make friends and Ride my horses!"
Dreamscape Ranch

The Dreamscape Ranch is owned and was created by Emma Dreamscape (emmalee69) and Christopher Dreamscape (christopher410) on the 23rd October,2014. The decorations at the ranch were made by Emma.

Both ranches support the Relay For Life, and they play to hold events to raise money for the charity. They will most information about that soon.  You can look up the ranches through Second Life Search.
In my personal opinion these ranches are very well made and are just perfect for everyone who loves horses, either in real life or only in Second Life. It’s the first time that I encounter a ranch in Second Life, though. I wish Hope Driftwood and Christopher Dreamscape the best with their ranches.

Hope Driftwood told me the whole process about breeding virtual horses, and I must admit it must be a difficult process.
On a final note, I was made an offer for a virtual horse, but I haven’t decided yet, LOL !

Cuppers and Co.

Cuppers and Co. came about in 2008 as a simple platform for Siggy String, and Tijntjow Twine to invite their friends to hang out on.  That platform has grown now into a full sim with many places to do more than hang out.  Working for Bletaverse cone camping system brought them to add cones to their earlier lands and friends as well.  New they have regular yearly parties, more beautiful hang outs than you can shake a virtual stick at and much more.

A castle with fire breathing dragons you can ride and battle each other with.  Mystical ruins, the Seaview Carnival Park, fishing with prizes.  And a Krusty Krab hidden away where you would expect, underwater wait the curious traveler.  Teleporters can take you to the avatar sized Pac Man game to play, or the race track for some fun times with friends, or on your own. The bar has games to play, a water slide brings you down to the fishing docks.  Shops include S&T gestures for all your gesture needs and some freebies, and Times 12 with the finest in women’s clothing.

This is a wonderful background for your photography needs. There are many sitting and cuddle places, great for groups or couples.  Beauty abounds anywhere you go on this tropical sim.  An oriental park behind the Times 12 Shopaholic store is a very inviting environment to spend time in.  HarryH Crumb, Siggy, and Tijntjow welcome you come to this very special place.  Explore, play, shop, fish and get away for a while in the land of Cuppers and Co.  It is rumored, there is an island there with a crazy Meerkat living upon it too.

Day of the Dead in Second Life

By Fritter Enzyme

The Day of the Dead.  This holiday is observed throughout Mexico in modern times but has roots in many cultures.  Originally taking place at the beginning of summer, it has moved to coincide with All Saints Day.  Many date it back to the Aztec festival of Mictecacihuatl, a goddess of the underworld and the Lady of the Dead.

In Second Life we have the privilege to share in this tradition at the Day of the Dead site.  Sponsored by the Smithsonian, Disney and AARP, this color filled villa brings the holiday to us.  Skulls and skeletons abound, dressed and painted, marigolds or gems for eyes are common.  You can make your own Ofrenda, or altar, to honor those you have lost in a sandbox area, a basic kit is provided for free.  There is a river or memories, with pictures of loved ones and candles, and a pet cemetery for our beloved animal friends.

Many videos are there to learn tradition from, and stages for artists.  Though the main ceremonies have already happened, it is still open for your participation and exploration.  Food, drink and favorite possessions of the dead are placed at alters for their spirits to partake of.  Asian and African cultures have similar types of celebrations they practice.  I did find it very interesting that a court for the Aztec ball game, which is usable, is set there.  Ulama, the Mesoamerican ballgame can be played by two teams without the traditional killing of the losing team at the end.  This game is one of the oldest continuously played sports in the world. Women played this game often.

I have looked for one of these in the past in Second Life.  Now I have found one.  Set aside some virtual time, make your altar, and remember your dead friends and family.  See the sim and learn it’s stories.  And if you can get two teams together, play some Ulama.  All in all, one of the most interesting places I have seen for a while.

Club Moonshine

By Wesley Regenbogen

Club Moonshine was created by EveleenJewell Resident and she decorated the place by herself. She created the club about 2 months ago, so word about the place is just getting out. She had another club earlier for one and a half years, but she had to move.
Normally you would find a club in a closed building, but this club is in the open air, no ceilings and no walls other than a hedge. This is kind of weird, but that makes it unique. There are seats in the corner of the club, if you want to relax a little, or take a break from the dancing during parties. There are trees in the club as well, and the dance floor is in the middle of it. As December approaches, there will be a winter theme soon.
The audience is mostly Netherlands or Belgians, so this means that the language spoken is Dutch and English. But Americans also join in the club to dance. The music that is played varies from DJ to DJ, but mostly they play following genres : pop/rock and oldies and top 40 music. And of course they try to play every request. The club is not always open, but has hours when the DJs are present and playing music.

I
n my personal opinion, this place is very nice and you can really relax and chill in the club, or just dance to the music. Enjoy your stay at Club Moonshine, and maybe we will meet each other there someday. I can speak Dutch, so to the Dutch readers, please talk to me if you are in there.

EveleenJewell has her own group and as special group for events. If readers want more information about the place they can contact her or they can join the group for more information.
If I can help to get the club more known, I’m glad to help out. You can find the place at this location :

A Few Halloween Haunts

By Bixyl Shuftan

It's late October in Second Life, which means Halloween time. As the dark comes earlier in real life, in virtual life various locations are putting up some frightfully fun places. There's too many to go to or list, but I did get a chance to visit a few.

The Return of the Nightmare Walkthrough

Satisfy your hunger for terror with the Return of the Nightmare Walkthrough. Celebrate Halloween with a fresh house of horrors and a free hunt for prizes. Face your fears, hunt for pumpkins, and get lost in the maze of terrors in this October-only event!

Entering this place, it's recommended you have your non-music sounds turned up, and either set the region to Midnight, or have the "Advanced Lighting Model" activated. And remove any facelights or other lightup attachments. There is a lit pumpkin available for you to take to light your way.

If you see any other pumpkins as you go through this haunt, click them, At the end, there's a place to put them, promising a prize if you've found them all.

This place didn't disappoint me. It promised a scarefest, and it delivered with plenty of thrills and chills, the environment was creepy, and the monsters often popped out at just the right time to spook you. Those wanting a more relaxed Halloween thrill might want to look elsewhere.

Paradise Fails (115/134/2195)

 ZZ Studios Madhouse

Fans of Cindy "Zig Zag" Babii were a bit saddened this year when the adult media company ZZ Studios had to leave the sim of the same name and rebuild in Erotica Island. Although a fraction of the size it was, they're still continuing their annual haunt, this year offering their Madhouse.

Taking the teleport over and entering, one faces a journey through a number of dark corridors. The first part goes through the manor, then the scenery changes to a maze of abandoned mine passages, a dark spaceship with nothing aboard but a few corpses (or is there?), even a passage that resembled going down a creature's digestive gut. Should you make it to the end, if you're with a date you might want to look behind you before you teleport back down.

I found the ride *slightly* less edgy than "Return of the Nightmare," but that shouldn't steer you away from seeing it. In my opinion, it's good for taking a date who's already been through some haunts, whom won't be so scared as to run out screaming but will be clinging to you a little tighter.

There were a number of carnival games at the entrance of the Nightmare. The prizes were not for kid avatars. Remember, the sim is rated Adult, and it's not called "Erotica Island" for nothing.

The teleport to the ZZ Studios Madhouse is at Erotica Island (66, 154, 23)

Nance Clowes' 8th Annual Haunted Sim

Welcome to Nance Clowes' 8th annual free haunted sim. There's lots more to see this year than any before. Fight your way through through zombies, explore asylums, survive haunted mansions, or just relax with item hunts and thrill rides.

FREE four MAJOR builds - 6 story Insane Asylum  1950s Thrill Ride  ZOMBIE HUNTING  tribute Disney THE HAUNTED MANSION GCS

Nance Clowes' haunted sim was different in that there were four haunted places to see. When you get to the arrival area, the announcer greets you, "Hello! There is a lot to find here! The GREEN area is the Haunted Mansion Tribute Ride.  RED is the Zombie Domed City, WHITE is for the Asylum, and BLACK is for Bannons Vanisher." I decided to check out the Haunted Mansion Tribute.

As a tribute to a Disney ride, this one shouldn't freak you out too much. There were some interesting sights such as the stretchable room. For much of the time, you're on a car that slowly goes down a course. Go into mouselook if you don't want a big circle in the middle of your field of vision. Don't expect too many things to leap out and scream. The ghosts here would rather give you a happy wave or a song. This is a good ride if you're with a friend with a low scare tolerance.

With three others lift, I decided to give the Bannons haunt, of which the sign at it 's front called it the "Most Dangerous Ride since 1954." This one was scarrier, though slightly laggy. I was also unable to make my way thought the course, so perhaps it was just a buggy night. I have yet to explore the Asylum and Zombie haunts there.

The landing area to Nance Clowes' Haunted Sim is at LandOurs (210, 46, 601)

These are just a few of the many haunts across Second Life. Gemma Cleanslate earlier reviewed Darkwood, and the Halloween fun at Area Pines Park. The Destination Guide has it's own section of haunted areas, so you'll have no shortage of places to go for some spook-tacular fun.

Happy Halloween

The International Space Museum

By Wesley Regenbogen

Spaceflight in real life has been a thing where many people have been wondering about and are interested in it. So am I. So I found this place in Second Life called the “International Spaceflight Museum.” It was created in September 2005, according to their Facebook page, and they provide full-scale models of spacecraft of 12 different countries, not just from America and the Russians. You can compare a 360-meter tall Saturn V Moon rocket with the Mercury-Atlas, which is sitting next to each other.
You can also ride on a rocket and orbit the Earth and walk the platforms around it. When you walk around on the platform you will see the other planets and just right-click them and then just select “Teleport” and you will be teleported to the planet in question. When you go to the planet Mars, you can even teleport to the ( virtual ) Mars surface and look around there, it’s a small area, but you can walk and see the rovers and get more information about them.

This museum isn't sponsored by NASA or the U.S. government, but cared for by volunteers. It’s operated by the ISMuseum, a Texas non-profit corporation.Any donations you give will help keep it running.

They also have a Wiki page available with more information about the place itself : http://www.ismuseum.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page. I didn't see future events listed on the wiki, although there was the Space Week recently. The nearby Spinthrift sim hosts music performances every Sunday at 8PM, and the National Space Society holds weekly meetings every Monday at 3PM at their sim.
In my personal opinion, I think this is the best space museum in Second Life. It’s really amazing that you can really fly with a rocket into space here. It’s also quite amazing that they actually recreated it all so realistically. There are a lot of things to see, too many to list here. I suggest you check them out when you visit the place yourself.

Aero Pines Harvest Festival and Halloween Trail

From Gemma Cleanslate

Found another great Halloween place to visit ! It is also in one of my favorite set of sims and will be another place to wander following the Halloween Trails. It is in the Aero Pines Park and is great fun. The annual Harvest Festival and Halloween Trails is going on with loads of games to enjoy and right next to it a wonderful Haunted House.

”Welcome To Morgan Mansion ! When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers,‘tis near Halloween. Gemma Cleanslate” was the greeting to me offered by Julianna, one of the Morgan chilren as I neared the mansion.  Not only can you wander through the house but you are invited to log in as a character in the family and become a part of the home. Outside the home are some fun rides and games to enjoy. Hop on the Carousel or the Sky Swatter or get dizzy on the Spider Ride. Whack a Mole , Zombie Meltdown and Ghost Busters are just a few of the games at the fair. I stopped in the Greifer Processing Center and disobeyed the rules not to touch anyone which is definitely scary.

The trail begins nearby and will take you to various sites . The first I visited was the Witches Camp and made some potions while there .At the Spider Grove I nearly became spider food as the webs entangled me . I passed a man-eating plant by the side of the road  rapidly after that experience. The ghosts in the Haunted Prison were not friendly either. The crowd at the Guillotine was after blood .Down the road it in a field it was fun to watch a shortened version of The Birds,  the Alfred Hitchcock film, while surrounded by screaming gulls and crows. My last stop was at the pumpkin patch where I wandered through the  Corn Maze bumping into the walls for a while. As usual the entire park is full of lovely foliage of  the season which makes the visit there more of a delight. I often go there to take a horse ride when I have time. Seasons change in this Park.

Take a bike or ride a horse along the roads littered with falling leaves seeking out the Halloween sites but enjoying the always lovely terrain. There are more games to play and sites to visit than I have mentioned so plan on visiting for a while. There is a cute jack-o-lantern ride you can rezz for your tour. Watch for it.
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Equus/15/207/23 Pick up the map and Landmarks here and in the folder you will find the special Halloween Trails notecard with landmarks for some scary places . All will remain until early November according to Cindy Bolero , the owner of the regions.

Darkwood

By Gemma Cleanslate

The eerily beautiful Darkwood is now open at Calas Galadhon Park sims, one of my favorite places to visit especially when the seasons change. Darkwood is a very different Halloween area with many surprises as you wander through the sim. To get an overview of the region when I arrived  I took the cuddleboat ride. It not only takes you along the waterways where you can view the woods from the edge but takes off into the sky among the vultures that soar overhead. As you hover above the Pavilion and see dragons poised you experience the surreal feeling of being back in the Hobbit’s world upon which the sim is based.

Ty Tenk & Truck Meredith, the owners of the Park sims, as usual go all out to create an atmosphere that delights the visitors who wander through. “We took a few liberties …  some could say more than a few (grin) as we usually do with a story. But hopefully you’ll find our take with it’s mix of beauty, terror and an enjoyable one.”

Back at the entrance after my peaceful ride, I walked into the woods with trepidation and immediately was surrounded by huge spiders. As I ran from that area, I fell through the ground to an underground pool of  water filled with hands reaching up to grab me. I could see the entwined bodies, dead I think, clinging to  vines . Making my way out of that scene I found myself surrounded by trolls that looked very like Smeagol ... Smaug.

I kept taking routes off the path marked by lamps, so it took me a while to find the Barrel Ride that took me far into the interior, and down into underground lakes populated by bats and strange creatures that looked hungry and through beautiful iridescent foliage. After I left the barrel ride, I made my way up to the ghostly Elven Ruins, and then up the winding stone steps through the rocky overhangs to the Pavilion, which is very lovely. I sat in an elven chair to rest from the climb and gazed out over the whole scene from the comfortable overlook, believing I might be in the Hobbit lands of yore. Some of the visiting avatars blended into the scenery as if they lived there.

At the base of the steps, I stopped to wander into Elven ruins inhabited by ghosts and more bats. I stopped to rest at one of the campfire circles and listen to the sounds of the woods.  There is so much to see and experience in the Darkwoods, it may take a month to discover all the secrets. At the entrance pick up the Lamp and set your graphics to Region windlight and have a wonderful time exploring  Stop at some of    There will be events at the Pavilion during the month . You are invited to join the group. All the Calas sims are wonderful to visit. There are pumpkins throughout the sim if you can leave a donation.  Begin your journey here at the entrance near the cuddleboat ride. I may see you there as I continue to find secrets I missed.  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Breakfree/246/240/22 ( I can’t wait til Winter !)

The Star Trek Museum

By Wesley Regenbogen

Ever since the first episode of Star Trek was aired on television many people have watched the series and became a fan of the science fiction story about Captain Kirk and his crew wandering around in the Universe, “to boldly go where no man has gone before”.
After the original series ended, many other series were made and a few spin-offs too. I wasn’t a real fan myself, but the episodes that I watched were amazingly well made and you really felt like you were also in space with Captain Piccard and his crew in the “The Next Generation” series, which were aired in the 90s.
Now, in Second Life there is a Star Trek Museum in which you can all learn about the different species and also get to know more about the series and get background information as well. The Museum was created and developed by SL STARFLEET, which is the counterpart to the real life organization STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. This unique organization has over 240 chapters worldwide, which links up to 4000 members around the world.
Within the Star Trek Museum you have different areas to vist, there are too many to list here. But there is a database on the official website of Star Trek : http://www.startrek.com/database_article_navigator. There you can find more information about the characters and the crew of Star Trek and much more.
The current curators of the Star Trek Museum in Second Life are  Sabri Piccard and Wabisabi Matahari.
There are many locations you can visit : Embassies, Visitor Center ( start location ), Science Museum, and much, much , much more. There is even a balloon tour available. There are too many places to list them all here. More information about all the locations can be found on this website : http://www.sabrizain.org/startrek/
On their Facebook page I found this quote regarding the places you can visit in the Star Trek Museum “SL's best collection of Everything Star Trek - Full size USS Enterprise, dine on gagh, fly in a shuttle, visit a Vulcan town, a Klingon home, Science Museum, swim with George and Gracie. Visit: http://slurl.com/secondlife/New%20Eridani/133/80/36.
In my personal opinion the Star Trek Museum is the place for Trekkies or Trekkers to visit and enjoy their stay in the museum. It’s nice to actually wander around in the Star Trek history and get to know more about the series itself.
You can find the place in Second Life at this location :

Xoph: A Shop of the Bizarre and Macabre

by Fritter Enzyme

Xoph is not your typical jewelry store in Second Life.  The skulls, upside down crosses and pentagrams give that away very quickly.  The real fun begins once you find the hidden passages that take you to many new places filled with the Halloween type fun.  Not just for Halloween, I would think this is the norm for this place.

Tentacles seem to be the supreme nuisance here, a box of free ones are in the store. You can buy tentacle tails, tongues, spine attachments, and more.  Many things attack you with them.  Want exploding sheep or doves, this is the place.  Snow machines too, with flakes, skulls, pentagrams, and, the best, paw prints.  There are different ways to find the hidden areas, but you will succeed in finding them yourselves.

Go out the door of the main store and try the Princess pose balls, including Heroin Princess and Crack Princess.  Then out on the strangest of balconies where you will have fun with the props there.  The bizarre and macabre await you in statues, pose balls and traps everywhere you venture.  This is not like typical Second Life haunted houses, this does not try to pull that off and fail, as most of them do.  It is fun, silly and an adventure to go through.  There are tubes to fall through, walls to walk through, dropping you to new places to see.

Many of the devices are for sale, save the LL banned George Bush Tentacle Interrogator, my favorite.  When you think you have seen it all, you probably haven’t.  Click on things and see what they do.  Shoot containers of toxic waste with prim babies as ammunition.  A unique twisted treat for the mind and senses, like you have never seen before.  Pick up some of the fun to take home back at the main store.

Have a happy Second Life Halloween and skip the usual, go see Xoph.  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Annapurna/200/224/777

Editors Note:  At the entrance, there's a pigeon that explodes when touched, and a sign that lists just one rule, "there are no other rules." The sim is rated "Mature" and not "Adult," but do you really want to trust those tentacles?
